Summer is slowly turning into fall, the rising sun glowing on the morning mist, and a new chapter has begun. In July, my son was born, and I’m now a proud father of two. My four-year-old daughter is the proudest big sister you can imagine. Apart from sleep deprivation, it’s nothing short of amazing to welcome a child to the world. A feeling of liberation has also introduced itself after his arrival and after two shots of Moderna. The last couple of months have been rough on us related to the pandemic and my wife’s pregnancy. We’ve been very isolated, and both tried to work from home; we even had our daughter stay at home when the spread was intense in our county. Now, she is back at kindergarten, my wife is at home with the baby, and I’m can once again work at the office. We are grateful we have been healthy during the whole pandemic, as well as our families. In the spring, I received a job offer I couldn’t refuse. Since May, I’m the Executive Officer of a small non-profit organization working with Human Rights, Anti-discrimination, and preventing violent extremism here in Värmland County. I’m thrilled to work with these matters and be a leader for the organization and our employees.
I hope I can find the energy and time to now and then write a reflection, poem, short story, or review of some kind on this blog. Either way, a new chapter has begun. As the birds escape the crisp air of fall, I will stay in the North; it’s time to get to work.
